Client Brief & Requirements
The owners of an exquisite Chettinad-inspired heritage estate in Madurai wanted modern smart living amenities—remote courtyard gate control, automated security, and scheduled exterior lighting—without cutting into irreplaceable Burma teak pillars, antique wooden ceilings, or 450mm solid stone walls.
Engineering Challenges
Dense 450mm stone masonry caused severe 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and RF signal attenuation between rooms.
Chipping or grooving walls for new electrical conduits was strictly prohibited to preserve historical woodwork.
Elderly family members required simple, traditional physical switches without having to rely on complex smartphone apps.
The VoltAura Engineered Solution
VoltAura deployed a commercial-grade Zigbee 3.0 wireless mesh network utilizing ultra-compact micro-modules installed invisibly behind the existing brass switchplates. High-power repeater nodes were strategically concealed inside roof eaves and cabinetry. We automated the heavy wrought-iron courtyard gate with a 1200kg Italian sliding motor and installed tactile scene keypads with custom engraved labels like 'Prayer' and 'Night'.

Installation Approach & Execution
The entire retrofit was completed in just 4 days with zero dust generation. Our technicians worked behind existing modular switchboards, testing each mesh node's Link Quality Indicator (LQI) to ensure seamless signal propagation across the thick stone walls.
